My wife and I received a 20 piece dessert set made
in milk glass. There are no marks on it. I have a couple of pieces of glassware my grandmother had and I got after her death.  I believe they are both Charleton
as both are the same pattern - though only one has the Charleton label.  One, unlabeled, is a small bud vase,
approximately 3 1/2 to 4 inches tall; the second, labeled, is a 'catch-all' (small candy dish, perhaps).  Both
are pink glass on the inside and milky white glass on the outside.  The pattern is like thumbprints around the
pieces so the pink shows through the white.  Around each thumb print was/is gold edging.  Both pieces also
have very small painted purple/white flowers with green leaves.  Anything else anyone could provide me
with these would be appreciated.  Thanks.

 I have a 1972 Fenton Valentine's Day Plate
with Romeo and Juliet on the front in the
Satin blue.  On the front is has Famous Lovers.
I understand this plate had production problems
and they decided not to continue production
and only 1000 to 1500 were made.

to Maine. We bought our way across 44 states! What fun to discover great deals. Love the
Fenton slippers. Have purchased some with names of Companies on the bottom and patten
dates, these aren't Fenton but beautiful. A book by Earlene Wheatley, titled Glass,
Porcelain, and Metal Shoes, was very helpful. Love the Castle!

 I have just started collecting Fenton glass. I have several pieces that have been
given to me and I know are authentic. I bought one piece that was said to be Fenton, but I
dan not find one on the web. It is a blue hobnail toothpick holder. The only holders I
find on the web are shaped and some are footed. Mine is a perfect cylinder. There are no
markings. What do you think? I think your website is wonderful.

I have recently inheirted a Fruits Punch Set in milk glass by Westmoreland.
The set is in mint condition complete with: 12 cups, bowl and base. The
pattern is called Fruit, it is pattern Number 81, it is in Westmoreland
Glass Volume I by Lorraine Kovar on page 103 #FR 1, The punch set is simply
beautiful with no condition problems. Each and every peice is marked as

Llooking for information on Fenton glass jug or pitcher circa 1910. The piece
looks like crestware except that the handle flows into a large leaf that looks affixed to the

I collect glass slippers, shoes, boots, some porcelain slippers and unusual pieces. I need a
reference book to determine their worth. I have some unusual pieces, from Sweden, Germany and England,
some more unusual (I believe) than any monetary worth. Recently picked up what I researched to be a
Roman oil lamp. Its 3-1/4" long, and 1" high. The opening is on the upturned toe. There is a small
flower at the top of the shoe where the lacing would end. The heel and sole are slighly indented and
marking on the sole says "B15". Does anyone know the history of this? Also, I have a clear glass
slipper on roller skates. I have about 20 Fenton slippers, but the rest are unknown. Where can I find a
reference book that lists other unusual slippers?

I am not a glass collector but I recieved a vase as a present from my husband's grandmother. She
did not give me much information, so I am looking for details. She said that she received it as a
present for her wedding in 1947 and that she has heard it referred to as "hob nail". I see no markings
on the vase. It is about 7 inches tall, and has a ruffled rim. The body has tons of these "bumps" on
it. The ruffled rim is mostly milk white with a bit of pink. The white dissapears as you move downward
toward the base, where it becomes a transparent red/ pink color. If anyone can provide me with

Better late than never... ;) At the beginning of this year, I purchased 2 items (a hobnail
pitcher and bread basket) from the Castle, as well as a book I
dont think there are words to describe the outstanding service and merchandise I received. The
communication was fast and efficient. The information provided
to someone who knew little about Fenton was incredibly useful! The books I received told me much about
Fenton products. And the two pieces of hobnail that I
purchased were in MINT condition! They were packed professionally, shipped quickly, and we are
extremely pleased with everything we received from the Castle
(service and mdse). The prices here are also highly competitive! I highly recommend doing business
with the Castle to anyone. You couldn't get better service or

Enjoyed the castle. Have recently aquired a piece of Fenton glassware. It is eithe a candy or cookie jar. I know that it was purchased before 1944. It is blue carnival glass with gold accents on designe and border. It is has a footed base that is that is 4 3/4" in dia., 6 1/2"tall and 5 5/8" in dia. at rim, bowl part is 4 1/8" in depth. Lid is 6" in dia.and the total height is 9". It has 3 cluster sets, each containing 2leaves with berries, 2 small flowers with button like centers, 3 large and 3 small (either) berries or nuts, and 2leaves. Each cluster has a border and the top has the same designe and border. It has Fenton wrote in a circle on bottom of jar and thebottom of foot and lid and the inside of jar is so dark that it loks black. Not wanting to see but would appreciate any informatiion on this piece. Have looked in carnival glassware books but can not find this designe. Thank you. Judy Zahn at Rzahn@blomand.net

I am looking for information on a handblown vase. Is rainbow vivid colors. It's 8 1/2" tall, the neck of the vase is 4" round, the width is 9" round and the bottom of the vase is 2 inch wide you can see where the glass was ended being blown. It has no markings on it at all. It is scolloped on the top and the bottom. The panel is approx. 1 inch apart on the vase look like 1 inch ridges, next inch is smooth repeating around the vase in the manner. I have had it 40 years, it was my grandmothers who had it a very long time. We are from England so I don't know if it came from there. I am lost in finding any information about it since there are no markings on it that I can see. Please if anyone can help, I would appreciate it very much. Lorraine

IN THE MID 70'S, I PURCHASED A FENTON LAMP, PINK BLOSSOMS ON CUSTARD, I BELIEVE TO BE THE PATTERN NAME. IT'S A 21" STUDENT LAMP IN THE CUSTARD GLASS WITH PINKISH WHITE FLOWERS IN SOME TYPE OF RAISED PAINT. ANYWAY.... ABOUT TWO YERAS AGO OUR THEN TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER GOT INTO SOMETHING SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE AND THE LAMP WAS SHATTERED!!!! OUR DAUGHETR (THANK GOD) WAS O.K. SHE COULD HAVE SUSTAINED VERY SERIOUS CUTS BUT THE LAMP WAS DESTROYED.
EVER SINCE THEN, I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THIS LAMP, EITHER IN ITS ENTIRETY, OR BY POSSIBLY PURCHASING JUST THE GOLBE/SHADE. THE "CENTER" GLASS PART IS FINE, BUT THE SHADE WAS SHATTERED.

I just purchased my first Fenton this weekend, a frosted fairy light with an art deco molded design. I did not even know what Fenton was, but just loved the piece. I am learning a lot this evening, and appreciate your site. I'll be back to learn more, since I think I'm going to start collecting fairy lights. I am wondering what kind of candle to put in it - a small pillar? Does one protect the bottom of the light with something to keep the melted wax from getting all over the bottom? I found a signature piece in one of the towers and was surprised to see how much it was worth
as I just recently obtained the same piece on QVC.

My 8 year old daughter collects fairies. She was very upset when she saw Fairy Lamps
on Ebay and they didn't have fairies on them or looked like fairies.
We have been trying to find out why they are called fairy lamps.
Stumbled on your fabulous site while trying to answer the riddle.

Hi Janice..
I usually answer the questions I can at the castle..but decide to do it here and then on the page..

Well where to begin...
Fairy lights are like thermos bottles, not really thermos bottle rather they are vaccum bottles made by thermos..or like in kleenex, is really a facial tissue with the kleenex brand name..

In 1886 a man named Samuel Clarke registered the trade mark " Fairy" for the Clarke's Pyramid & Fairy light company...These "lights" were designed to be night lights..the early and even some in the not so early had an embosed fairy on tip toes in the base of the lamp..

When other companys started to make these night lights, they were automaticlly tagged, fairy lights.. just like thermos bottles and kleenex..

There are a number of companys that make fairy lights, some very expensive, some not so.

I have seen an early clarke light marked 1200.00 and have no reason to believe that a collector will not pay that...
Viking makes some that sell for 3.98..
So I guess any domed candle holder can be called a fairylight..

My information is from an article by Roger Winzeller in the glass digest of oct/november of 1996..

I hope this makes you daughter happy, and that she decides to collect these beautiful little lamps along with her fairys..

Plum Carnival Glass
My husband and I enjoy collecting Fenton. My husbands favorite is the plum carnival glass. I personally like rabbits of any color. I have 4 of the mini rabbits, one of each color, pink irridesecent, aquamarine, plum carnival and rose. I also have the two rabbits painted by greene and the duck also painted by him. She also has the 75th Anniversary 13 piece offering of the Velva Rose pattern set. The collection is in mint condition and was offered in 1980. I have approx 20 - 30 pieces of the custard Fenton (with the pink roses/flowers).
I also have a lamp in the same pattern. Was looking for approx. value of lamp.
Also, have quite a few pieces of 'smooth' Fenton (not hobnail).
One piece looks like a fountain (1 1/2 deep bowl, with three pieces which set down into the bowl
and are standing up like water in a fountain).
Any idea on value or can you direct me to the best reference book?
It it hard to describe what the piece actually looks like but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started collecting "purple glass" a few years back.
The manganese used in the late 1800 to early 1900 turned the glass a light shade of purple which is truly lovely.
It is not the low price but the lovely color that attracted me to it.

As I learned more about it I buy unusual designed silvercrest and aqua crest Fenton pieces and as of late I also like to collect the animals like cats, elephants, birds. price and even though some have not been marked, I knew what

I have collected Fenton glass for about 15 years. I have about 25 pieces,
mostly cranberry glass. I recently acquired a "happiness bird" that is unmarked except
for the name "Richard" on the bottom. It is painted and appears to be bermise.
What can you tell me about this? I really enjoy collecting and was glad to find your web-sight.
I would assume the name "Richard" is the name of the artist that painted the birde.

I started buying Fenton about 20 years ago for my mother. I got her a basket in yellow custard
glass with the cabin painted on it. Since that time she has had surgery on her eyes and
returned the basket and a 'crackle painted' vase that I bought her, to me because she
couldn't appreciate their beauty anymore. I then fell in love with the Fenton custard glass
and decided to start collecting. Since that time I have aquired about ten more pieces. A
variety of amber, custard and white hobnail. I also collect angels and I recently bought a
Fenton Angel with a gold butterfly on it. I have no idea what my pieces are worth,
but I know they are beautiful and I treasure them because of that.

Enjoyed looking at your site, very clever graphics. I love old Fenton carnival glass,
especially in the marigold color. I also like sherbert and plates,

I was given a glass bell as a gift for my college graduation and I didn't think it was worth much so I planned to sell it for $2 at a garage sale. A friend of a friend pulled the bell off the table and told me never sell it-it is Fenton Milk Glass! I don't know much about Fenton but I am now on a quest to learn as much as I can about it. For Mother's Day I wanted my husband to go to a flea market with me and wouldn't you know I found two Fenton pieces? I snatched them up; one is Milk Glass- it looks like a candle holder; it's circular and has several candle holes around the edge. (patent #3547569) I paid $8 for it. The other piece is like a frosted lime green tinted bowl on a base and has a Fenton sticker inside. There was nothing printed on the bottom, nor was there a patent number on this particular piece. The vendor sold it to me half price for Mother's Day-his original sticker was $27.50. I'm new at this. Did I strike a deal or get taken for a ride? I'm anxious to know.

Hi: I am a collector of Westmoreland Glass (all types)
I have quite a large collection but I am always looking for more.
I lived in Pennsylvania about 3 miles from the plant and I was fortunate enough to be able to tour
the plant many times and but glassware through the gift shop they had.
I had two sisters that worked there for over 20 years.
I think their glassware is simply beautiful.

collection from past two editions. I missed 1997 and 1998 large handpainted eggs.
I was investing in beanies! I am also looking for McMillan & husband and can't seem to track them down.
They do special editions of large hanging heart eggs. Can you help?

  I collect any pattern of carnival glass. If I like it I buy it. Even better if I get a good deal on it.
Not too much into Marigold though. I e-mailed yonkerk re: an Imperial Jewels cobalt blue compote set I have.
According to Bill Edwards, it was only made in red. But from what I understand,
anything in blue by Imperial is very rare. If anyone has any information about this set I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I have a lot of old Fenton carnival and enjoy all types of glass.

This is really a lot of fun--except I didn't find any of the Fenton French Opalescent Hobnail
pieces that I need. I have collected for many years, but still need about 35 pieces
(that I know of). I also collect for a friend; as she does for me.
Need the small octagonal ashtray, Covered Melon Jar, footed S&P,
